4th January 2008

I have recently been accepted as an artist to create work for the Flower Power exhibition commencing April 2008.

After visiting the space and seeing all the great timber beams and atmosphere of the gallery, its been decided that I shall create several pieces for the gallery, these will include a time based piece, several canvases and a small book, consisting of machine and hand embroidery samplers, that will work as the development of the work as well as being an artwork.

Flowers are an indulgent fantasy having a variety of meanings and connotations. they create a fantasy world of hope and wonder a secret haven. Within my childhood mind, they offer a sanctuary, a secret a tactile imagination that only a 5 year old could have, a mixture of life and death, beauty and decay.
